Journey

I'm sure many of you have already came across this game in different ways, whether having a chance to play it, hearing it from a friend or just watching a video capture on youtube. Journey, imo is one of the most beautiful game (well, indie game if it concerns you) that was created so far. I absolutely loved the experience playing through it. The style, the animation, the music, and the feeling you get from it. If you haven't been following the VGA that just happened over this past weekend, Journey had won 2 of the few of the awards it was nominated for (Best Indie game & Best sound track). Journey is also nominated for Grammys 2013 for Best Score Soundtrack for Viscual Media, going up against many other block buster films such as The Dark Knight, Tin-tin, Hugo, and The Artist. I wish for the best for Journey to take it home, give the world another shout for the video game industry. And that Video games are more than something only meant for kids.

I spent some time this weekend running over Journey again so remind myself of it's awesomeness. So here is a little fanart I did to show my little gratitude for Thatgamecompany, for them to bring this game to life.

Sandie - Guardians

Watched Rise of the Guardians yesterday, it was pretty awesome, i really enjoyed it. I'm really glad to see how many of the animated features this year are all so equally well done,  there is going to be a good competition for Oscar 2012. It's most likely going to be between Paranorman, Wreck it Ralph and Rise of the Guaridans. Brave wasn't bad, but it didn't really hit the spot for a lot of people. I have my money on Paranorman, it is going to be really nice to see Laika taking it this year.

So here is a fan art I did for Guardians, Sandy (Sandman) was one of my favourite in the movie, aside from the badass Santa (North). Here is my question, does anyone know if Sandy's a guy or girl?? I asked my friend Jchu and she doesn't know either, hmmmmm )

Just to add on, heres a study i did recently, theres something i really like about it, so i'll just leave it here.

Yoko - Gurren Lagann

A Yoko statue has been something I wanted to get. For Years I was struggling with whether to get it, and get made fun of by my friends for having a big boobed anime figurine on my desk( You know who you are!). And finally about a week ago, I've came to my decision, to heck with those disagreeing bastards, I'ma get myself one. And what did it turn out?  $200+ Each ... What happened to the 70-80 bucks !? Com'monnnn!!!

If anyone knows of a site that has one on sale, please let me know! To be specific, this is the one I wanted to get (http://blog.anime-figuren.de/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/yoko_ritona-tengen_toppa_gurren_lagann-alter-05.jpg)

Congratulations to Alvin and Lauren Aquino!

Congrats to the newly wedded Aquinos. It was a beautiful wedding on a perfect day in PEI. Here is a little painting Garrett and I did for the Alquinos. The idea was to capture the little "magic" moment. Hope we got it right, hahaha. Alvin and Lauren, I'll come visit you guys again, but I expecting to see the little ones.

WIP on a piece

Took a break on this for a bit to catch up on things and played some games. I will get back on this this week.

I've started going in more with the details, I'm taking my time, going to try and refine this as much as I can.

 Color thumbs

Thanks to Janice for pointing out that #2's focus is in the dead center, I thought I'll give #1 a try. So here is the tightened in verion of #1
Picked #2, tightening in on the details

Brave - Merida

I finally got a chance to catch Brave in the theater. In my opinion it was not as good as I was expecting. It was not a Pixar caliber title. It had potential, the world was great, characters were great, animations were also great, but the story was just too straight forward. It was very predictable. I won't say much because I don't want to spoil it for anyone who havent had a chance to see it yet. ) Go watch it, if you haven't )

Day 5 - Tao Yuan, Taiwan

Joe Hisaishi

Miyazaki is awesome, he had brought the very best of Ghibli films. But it is easily to forget that there are many other people who also helped in bringing the magic to life. Joe Hisaishi was the composer on many of the Ghibli films which includes Totoro, Vally of the Wind, Mononoke, and Spirited Away. He is one of my hero of all time, I would only hope to go to one of his concerts (if there are still more coming) and meet him one day.
